Your Human Design Profile – Your Role in Life

You now know your Type (your energetic nature), and you know your Authority (how you make decisions). But there's another layer that's equally important: your Profile.

Your Type answers: How am I wired to move through the world?
Your Authority answers: How do I make decisions?
Your Profile answers: Who am I? What role do I play?

Your Profile shapes your personality, your life themes, and the role you're meant to play in relationships and communities. It's about your archetypal nature—the character you're here to embody.

The 6 Lines: Your Journey

Your Profile consists of two numbers. Each number refers to a Line—an archetypal energetic pattern. There are six Lines, and each carries a distinct character and journey.

1

The Investigator

Line 1 is the foundation builder. You investigate, research, and build a solid base of knowledge. You need to understand how things work before you can teach or share them.

Theme The base, the foundation, expertise

2

The Natural Talent or Hermit

Line 2 is naturally talented. You have gifts that come without effort. You don't need to push to develop your skills—they're already there. The challenge? People want to pull you out and use your gifts, but you need space and solitude to recharge.

Theme The natural gift, the hermit phase

3

The Explorer or Experimenter

Line 3 learns through experience. You're meant to try things, fail, and discover what works. You're not meant to get everything right the first time. You learn through doing.

Theme Experimentation, resilience, trial and error

4

The Networker or Opportunist

Line 4 is connected. You build networks and relationships naturally. Opportunities come through people you know. Your power is in your connections.

Theme Networks, relationships, influence through connection

5

The Problem Solver or Heretic

Line 5 is the healer and problem solver. People project their issues onto you, believing you can fix them. You carry a heretical quality—you challenge the status quo.

Theme Saving, fixing, projection, disruption

6

The Role Model

Line 6 is the observer and the embodied example. In your first 30 years, you observe life from the sidelines. After 30, you naturally step into a role model position. People look to you as an example.

Theme Observation, maturity, role modeling

The 12 Profiles

Your Profile is a combination of two Lines. There are 12 possible combinations, and each creates a distinct personality pattern and life theme.

First number: consciousSecond number: unconscious

1/3

The Investigator-Experimenter

You build foundations through investigation and learning through experimentation. You're detail-oriented, thorough, and willing to fail. You're meant to develop real expertise and share what you've learned.

1/4

The Investigator-Networker

You investigate deeply and then leverage your network to share what you know. You're systematic in your learning but people-oriented in your influence. Your expertise becomes known through your relationships.

2/4

The Natural-Networker

You have natural gifts that others recognize. People are drawn to you and want to collaborate. Your power comes from being yourself and letting your connections amplify your natural talents.

2/5

The Natural-Problem Solver

You have natural gifts, but people also project onto you and expect you to save them. There's a tension between your hermit needs and others' expectations. Learning to set boundaries is crucial.

3/5

The Experimenter-Problem Solver

You learn through experimentation and trial, but others expect you to fix things. You're the one people come to when things are broken. Your role is being willing to get your hands dirty and solve real problems.

3/6

The Experimenter-Role Model

You spend your first 30 years experimenting and learning. After 30, you naturally step into visibility as a role model. You embody resilience and the wisdom of experience. Others look to you as proof that it's possible.

4/6

The Networker-Role Model

You're connected and influential. After 30, you naturally move into positions where people look to you as an example. Your relationships and networks give you a platform. You're meant to lead through connection and example.

4/1

The Networker-Investigator

You build your network and then investigate deeply within that network. You're curious and connected. You know a lot of people, but you also develop real expertise that you share with your community.

5/1

The Problem Solver-Investigator

People come to you with their problems, and you investigate thoroughly to solve them. You're the expert problem solver. You build a reputation for deep knowledge and real solutions.

5/2

The Problem Solver-Natural

You naturally attract people who need help, but you also have natural gifts. The key is honoring both: being available for others while protecting your own energy and needs.

6/2

The Role Model-Natural

After 30, you become a visible example to others. Your natural gifts show the way. You don't need to teach explicitly—people learn by watching who you are and how you live.

6/3

The Role Model-Experimenter

You're meant to be a role model of resilience and experimentation. You show others that it's okay to try and fail, to keep learning, to stay flexible. Your visible presence models this adaptive approach.

Your Profile in Relationships

Your Profile also reveals how you show up in relationships and communities. Want to explore this deeper? Check out Human Design in Relationships.

What Your Profile Tells You

Your Profile is the answer to: "Who am I really? What am I here to be, not just what am I here to do?"

Some Profiles are more inward (Lines 1, 2, 3) while others are more outward and visible (Lines 4, 5, 6). Some are meant to build solid foundations while others are meant to shake things up. Some profiles naturally collect resources and knowledge; others are meant to give and guide.

When you honor your Profile, you show up as yourself. You stop trying to be someone else. You step into your natural role. And paradoxically, that's when people actually respond to you most powerfully.

"You're not playing a role. You are the role. And the more you accept that, the easier everything becomes."
